Now I want to play Morrowind, which can even mess with modern systems, but it's a Directx 8.1 game, and from what I know Windows 8 and onward doesn't support the Directx 8 the same way 7, Vista and XP did. Whether that means it doesn't support it fully, or the performance is degraded I am not sure, which is what my question is.
If I go back to Windows 7, can I expect better performance with Directx 8.1 ? Or gaming in general since my card only has a driver up to 7?
I know Windows 8.1 and 10 have performance improvements overall, but I don't feel like my laptop is really making use of that, and currently my CPU isn't that bad, my integrated graphics is bad, and therfore improving it's performance in any way possible is priority.
