I bought in June 2015 a Dell E6440 latitude originally intended for a corporate client. It was brand new, never used machine, and had a lot of Dell security features for corporates installed- although it was never particularly obvious - so I just ignored it. And forgot about it. Nothing was encrypted.
When I updated to W10, the update process said that the encryption s'ware needed to be removed before the W10 upgrade could proceed. So I said yes and the process did spend some time doing something that looked like software removal. W10 up and running fine - but on boot and about every 1 time in 5 when you access the filing system a standard windows install message box pops up that says 'Dell Data Protection Encryption Please wait while Windows configures Dell Data Protection Encryption' There is a cancel button, and after a few seconds another box pops up 'Dell Data Protection Encryption An entitlement for Personal Edition as not found. Aborting install' and an OK button.
So I can cancel/OK these boxes no problem and the machine runs just fine.. but it's very irritating. Any ideas how I can get rid of it for ever? I've never had any help, or even response, from the Dell website..
Many thanks
Mike
